Ernie Overholt, CFA

Chief Operations Officer (COO)


 

Ernie Overholt is the chief operations officer of Hartford Funds. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring operational excellence across the organization and for overall leadership within the technology, fund treasury, transfer agent, dealer/client support, and corporate risk functions.

Ernie joined the organization in February 2024. Prior to joining the company, he spent six years with The Vanguard Group in senior leadership roles in risk, compliance, data analytics, and operational controls. Most recently he was head of enterprise risk strategy, overseeing the execution of the firm-wide risk program and improving the organization’s awareness and management of its top risks. Prior to that, Ernie spent 25 years in numerous senior leadership positions across operations, client servicing, compliance, and risk with Janus Henderson Investors. His last role was vice president of enterprise risk management, responsible for the firm’s enterprise risk program. Ernie is a registered representative of Hartford Funds Distributors and is FINRA Series 99 registered. Ernie has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the Philadelphia and Colorado CFA Societies.

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Ernie attended Metropolitan State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in marketing, and the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business, where he received his master of business administration degree as a distinguished scholar. He currently lives in Villanova, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Rae Ann, and their children, Emily and Maggie.
